  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learnt a whole new range of skills from how to mount things accurately to walls to begin to understand where there may be a fault in an electrical circuit.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I have thoroughly enjoyed my experience being an electrical apprentice so far.

    9/10

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The work side of the apprenticeship is hard to organise because you don’t know what work will come up or need doing so it is hard to predict (not necessarily a bad thing) however the training is well structured and organised.

    9/10

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • As much as I request I need.

    9/10

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • There are regular reviews and the tutor is always happy to spend extra time making sure you understand the topic being covered.

    9/10

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • Very well since the qualification encompasses what I undertake at work.

    10/10

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Not as far as I am aware except I have heard of a charity day which is held once a year.

    4/10

  • 9a. Would you recommend SSE to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • Because this has been a strong step for the career I want and I feel I am reaping benefits such as experience that other electrical apprentices would not have with another perhaps smaller firm.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to SSE?
  • Be friendly and be yourself because they look more at your personality and how you react with people above anything else.
