My role as a toolmaker involves me repairing and maintaining the die sets used to produce car panels
While working here I have learned lots of new skills to take through life, both practical skills and mental skills
Very much so, I work with an excellent team, everyone supports each other. The job is satisfying too when you get something working that wasn’t before!
The whole apprenticeship is well structured, all aspects of the course are described to us and we work along a plan of the course With deadlines clearly set.
As much as is needed, BMW Group supports its employees as much as is needed to ensure a smooth passage through the apprenticeship
Swindon college was excellent with providing support to better our learning, these could be in the forms of extra lesson outside of hours
Swindon college made sure they were training us so we knew exactly what we were doing when we started working at the factory, from hand skills to machining.
Yes, once a year there is a mountain challenge which involves all BMW Group sites in the UK, there are also chances to represent the company at various careers events.

It is a brilliant opportunity to learn a trade to the highest standard, you will receive upmost support and be surrounded by a great team. There are also many opportunities offered to take you further as well, it’s a secure job and I would definitely recommend it.
Be yourself, the BMW Group can teach you the skills you need, you need to have an attitude where you are ready to face a challenge, if you succeed it will be the best thing you ever do.
