I own the business and run it from my home as a childminder. I do everything from writing policy’s and procedures to accounts and planning activities for each child at the setting. I also look after my staff and ensure their training is kept up to date and review their work regularly. I am also in charge of safeguarding, health & safety, funding, advertising, recruiting and much more.
I have learnt a lot more about all aspects of the subject I am studying and refreshed on some areas I may not have used as much in recent times. It has given me a refreshed look at how we run things at the setting and how e can improve going forward.
I have enjoyed most areas we have studied and looked at. My assessor has been amazing in supporting me and my team through tough times and reassured us we are doing well even when we fee we are not in the right place with our studies. Having that support gives us the confidence to carry on.
The programme is very well set out and I have a clear picture of where in need to be at each stage. We have one assignment to do and little bits we can do around it to help take a break for a few minutes and look at it again with fresh eyes.
As much as I need. We have a very heavy workload and finding the balance can be tricky at times, but we all do our best to support each other and make time to study and catch up to see if we need any support. I have all the resources I need.
My assessor is amazing and is always there when I need her. She will ring to check in on us and see if there’s anything we need to help us complete tasks and assignments. She has even contacted us during covid to make sure we are ok and copying well and adjusted our workload expectations to support the extra work we have had to do when new guidelines have come out and we need to implement them in a timely manor.
All the information I am gaining from this training is going to help me be the best I can at my job and provide an outstanding level of care for each child and their families as they come through our setting. It has given me the opportunity to look at different areas and the history of children’s development.
We are always working within our community to get involved and join in local activities such as fundraisers and fetes. We sometimes attend local get together where we can meet others in our profession and share our experiences and stories. We sometimes join in local team building activities and have started running together to support our fitness and mental health.
Yes
The course is great and our assessor is lovely. I really can’t rate my assessor enough. I feel she goes above and beyond at times to support us. The resources available to us are great and they will always recommend other resources as well to help us. During what is a tough time for everyone (covid19), paragon has kept us up to date with what’s going on with them, reassured us their assessors are staying safe and are able to support us from their own homes or secure place of work and even phones to check we are ok and coping as well.
Take your time and be realistic with the time you need to study. They do a lot to support us in our studies, but making the time is our part in achieving the achievements at the end. It may take a week or two to get started but once you are up and running they are their for you and want you to succeed.
