my role as a first year apprentice at BAE systems is to undergo my basic training getting to grips with the different roles that i could later go on and become more advanced in. the different sections i attend will give me a good overall bases when i move in to my BAE career.
i developed my management skills, and become a lot better at setting my self SMART goals. i have also learnt new skills such as Business improvement techniques (BIT) as well as learning new electrical techniques. I also think my social skills have really developed, helping me communicate with my colleges.
I am really enjoying my program and would urge anyone to apply for this apprenticeship, from experience of doing other apprenticeships this one is by far the has the highest level of teaching and learning methods, as well being very supportive and far. i had really high expectation of this company and have not disappointed.
It has always been well structured from the minute we begin, the induction was simple and straight forward and we where told what was expected from us right from the start. However with the intake being so great this year i feel more organisation and structure could have helped with the intake of new apprentices
i always receive plenty of support i need, my employer has been quick and precise when offering support. allowing me to finish any work that is asked of me in good time and of good quality. this then puts me in a good position for the future, as well as making me a respected apprentice.
i receive plenty of support from my training provider even in these difficult times (Covid-19) i am they are quick to reply to emails and offer plenty of resources and plan meetings so they are able to have conversations with us in case we have any further questions we need answering.
I feel that my training providers are really good at seeing my strengths and weaknesses, they will then push me in the areas i am not so strong in making my over all performance heighten and improve for my overall job roll, ready for my second year into the business.
At the moment no, however that was only as i was in my first year away at Samlesbury, when i move into my second year and into my place of work (Brough) i do believe i can get involved in different extra-curricular activities. and this is well known through our emails we get at work.
Yes
This job for me is a life changing opportunity, luckily as i am older i am able to see this in a brighter light to other younger apprentices, coming out of school or college. BAE have provided me with huge amounts of support and great over all place to work.
Always do your research into the business before applying, be confident in your self and apply knowing your tried your absolute best. this apprenticeship is a huge career opportunity, so it must be taken seriously. have a passion for the job role you have applied for. get people to proof read your application, and double, triple check everything.
