  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My role is quite varied so I find myself handling new tasks everyday. The work that I complete usually involves logging signing and sealing contracts, creating surveys for our separate committees, archiving data manually and electronically, developing agendas and building packs for my colleagues different meetings. As well as some of these tasks I'm learning to minute meetings and slowing developing my skills in this by attending meetings when possible.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learnt countless amounts of skills since working here by tackling all the new challenges that I face day to day. I have also massively developed my existing skills by continuing to do things that reinforce this. For example, I knew I had good customer service skills from previous jobs, however this is much stronger now that I use the skill everyday.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I thoroughly enjoy the programme that I'm currently working through and I like the feeling of knowing my progress. This is done by following my college work progress via their website and helps me to give me an idea of what to work towards. I also greatly look forward to my pay increments and think that it's a great incentive to work harder.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • I feel that my programme is well structured in the most part. How the programme is organised at my workplace is brilliant and I feel a great amount of support from my team. The only small part affecting this is the college element of my apprenticeship, as I don't think they are well organised and I've seen many faults and delays with how they operate.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • My employer is massively supportive of my work and progress. I have multiple catch ups and one to one meetings arranged frequently to review how I'm doing. Every one of my colleagues has supported me with my workload and at no times did I ever feel that I was struggling too much or worried about anything.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • They give me enough support to get me an understanding for the task and what will follow from the completion of that. I have multiple people feeding me work from the college which can sometimes make it difficult to keep the relevant information to each of them. Apart from this they do offer me with support however it's not needed as I receive a lot more from my workplace.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I feel that its reinforced a lot of the areas I cover at work and has given me a good understanding of business on another scale. This however is something I already know a lot about and most of the tasks I complete in the workplace are well discussed so I understand every aspect already.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • They are frequently sending emails of new social events and are seen to be very interactive with things like this. I have attended a few extra free training sessions on how to improve in parts of my work. My line manager and team are happy to let me take time to do these extra training sessions as they are so beneficial.

  • Tips that I would suggest for applying to Optivo would be, be yourself most definitely. As well as put all your effort and motivation into the application and really show why you care. If they can get into the interview stage then they are sure to do well if they follow our company values.
