My role is to progress problem records that are created from live fails through the mainframe batch. Requires me to have a good level of understanding of the overall team and its jobs that run.
I have learnt many programming languages, learnt about IMS, DB2, and Mainframe system.
I really enjoy the apprenticeship, though I feel a lot of the University side of things are not well managed by the HR department.
The structure of the programme is simple, 4 years at university where I must get a 2:1 degree to complete the apprenticeship.
I get a lot of support from my team for work based issues, though regarding the University issues it can be difficult for issue to be sorted fast.
University provide a lot of support for all university based issues as well as providing specific tutors for issues
My university work and training provides no help to my day to day work, nor have I used any of the skills have I developed at uni at work.
There are many citizenship events at university that I can take part in that are available throughout all the year
Yes
The experience and pay is extremely good for young people
Be yourself and don't try to be the person they are expecting as it will not work out when they see that you are not how you first came accross
