I am currently based within the Learning & Development team at Sage and have been tasked with an administrative type role. I have more recently been focusing on L&D communications as well as shortlisting training providers to ensure that colleagues at Sage receive as much opportunity for self-development as possible.
I have developed my teamwork skills, working closely with the L&D team has improved this massively. I am working in a global team, so I needed to improve my communication skills to ensure that there were not language barriers etc. I have learnt how to code using HTML during my apprenticeship and hope to utilise this skill in the future.
I have thoroughly enjoyed my apprenticeship at Sage. Being given the opportunity to earn while learning is great. I feel as though this programme providded me with a great transition from leaving school and going into full time work. I have gained a lot of expereince working closely with different areas of the business as well as gaining a network through the apprentice programme.
The apprenticehsip prorgamme was a great stepping stone to allow me to gain business understanding and industry knowledge. I was granted 20% off the job trianing per week, equating to 1 day per week. During this time, I was able to attend college as well as develop my own skill set that I could utilise throughout my time at Sage.
I have received an unlimited amount of support from my employer. Sage has been great when it comes to introcuding apprentices into the world of work. I feel as though there could be better communication ebtween my manager and the apprentice manager to ensure that they understand the importance of the time needed to complete assignments etc. This would have enabled me to excell quicker as well as feel more positive about their faith in me as an apprentice.
My training provider has offered a lot of support throughout my apprenticeship. There were points duing ym apprenticeship where I feel communication could have been better. However, that said, when I asked for advice/ guidance this was granted. They worked closely with the course delivery to ensure that I was given the best experience.
My qualification has ensured that I am able to understand the basics within HR and the theory behind the work that I am completing on a daily basis. This has given me more confidence when asnwering questions surrounding my role as well as understading why the tasks I am asked to do will benefit both the team as well as the organisation as a whole.
There are a lot of extra-curricular activities to get involved in. These include, - A workplace choir - Golfing societies - Sage foundation - which offers employees the chance to use 5 days a year (paid) to volunteer in their local community and help to make a difference. We also have events held regularly such as: - Pride at Sage - celebrating the LGBTQ+ community
Yes
Sage is a great organisation to work for - if you were to ask someone why they love working at Sage, 9 times out of 10 the answer will be 'because of the people'. Everyone at Sage has so much to offer and we love to being out the best in everyone. Everyone is very supportive of eachother and love to be of help wherever needed.
Be yourself. Ask a lot of questions to ensure you completely understand what Sage stands for and how you will play a crucial part in the workings of the business. Do your research - although you may have heard great things about Sage - don't step into the business blind. Do your reserach to understand the company, it may not be your place. Have fun and stay positive - we love energetic and enthusiastic people at Sage, make yourself stand out (it's okay to be big headed every once in a while) Show us what you've got!!
