I am a Quality apprentice in the Paintshop At Rolls-Royce Motor Cars. Day-to-day I solve technical problems using my problem solving techniques to come up with a solutions. I also design and implement trials and projects which will make process easier for the associates on a daily basis.
I have learnt new skills to do with programming and using new systems and equipment to help with my projects. These have been really fun and good to learn. I have also grown my team and leadership skills as I get to lead groups during my projects
I really enjoy it. I enjoy the fact that I can take what I learn at University, especially the topics to do with thermodynamics, and then use what I have learnt to come up with ideas at work. I am also enjoy learning new skills and take the lead sometimes.
The programme is well organised. I had everything in place for when I started and projects and tasks where ready for me to get stuck in straight away. We have a schedule where we get to go on placements around the factory which changes every quarter.
I receive a lot of support. My manager has a one-to-one with me every weeks to check how I'm doing. He makes sure I always have work to do and asks how Uni is going as well. My HR manager also supports me and checks I'm doing ok.
My training provider gives us a lot of support. When at University there offer there time up for us to help if needed. Also when on study leave they will always be available when you need there help. The apprenticeship manger always checks up on us.
My qualifications is helping me at lot at work and my role. The things I learn at University have really helped me to understand process and ideas to do with my role more clearly. Therefore I can keep up with the pace of the more experienced staff at work.
There aren't any extra curricular activities to get into at work.
Yes
I would highly recommend the BMW Group because of the way they treat there staff and the enjoyment everyone has working for the company. Everyone has a passion for cars and wants to make the best product they can so everyone is enthusiastic about there job.
If you are applying, make sure you know a bit about the company, have lots examples of where you have worked in a team or been a leader, show your enjoyment and enthusiasm for the company and most importantly BE YOURSELF and show them what your made of.
