  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I currently work in the marketing team whereby I work on a variety of different campaigns for upcoming programmes. This involves writing briefs for what I want our of the campaign e.g. for trailers. These briefs are then presented for creative who will draw up different ideas which I then approve with stakeholders.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The programme is really well organised with a weeks induction at the start to get us familiar with what we will be doing. We are provided with and encouraged to work with mentors to help guide our career paths. We are also given our study time to ensure we are able to complete our assignments.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • We have a line manager for our daily tasks as well as a scheme manager who we go to for an issues with the programme or learning, We also have mentors and are paired with someone from the year above to ask questions too. The general attitude is that if we have a problem there is someone we can speak to.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • A decent amount, we can email out tutors any time and they run weekly drop-in calls that you can attend to ask questions etc. We also have skills coaches, who are not academics so we go to them fore general issues or questions about our qualifications. So I would say there is support its just up to you to use it.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I think that the apprenticeship provider teaches modules based on lots of theory. While the assignment require us to see and search how this theory is applied it isn't always as obvious in the workplace. This is because most example of leadership and management I've seen have been based on people experience. however, it is useful to recognise what we are taught in our daily tasks

  • yes, there are lots of societies to join and events to attend on a variety of different areas. These are both free and membership opportunities. There are also networking events that I have attended and talks available for people to develop their knowledge on a subject, these events also usually end in networking sessions where you can meet new people.

  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • the apprenticeship has opened up doors to a variety of opportunities that I wouldn't have had otherwise. as well as a degree qualification that is completely paid for and without debt. Furthermore, the networking is very important and gives you a boost in life which could aid you in your career development from the start.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BBC?
  • I would say you should definitely do some research about your company before applying and for the interview process as it helps to have background knowledge which you can impress them with. Also make sure you look at the roles and job descriptions as they will detail what you daily work will look like and help you know if you want to do the Job.
