-Junior Project Management, but with both scrum master and service design activities -day to day involves business admin to mange team workforce member list, on/off boarding, and other project tasks like labour forecasting -service design activities include helping with user testing, and the creation of personas and user journeys - I also facilitate scrum ceremonies such as retros and playbacks
Yes!!!! - BA course= gathering requirements, how to write user stories etc - PM course= 7 keys, how to manage scope, where projects go wrong, how to keep on track etc -Scrum course= key ceremonies, how a scrum team operates, what the role of a scrum master is -Agile course= how to run a project in sprints, continuous feedback and improvements through iterations
10/10. I have been fortunate enough to have experienced really good teams, with PM's that allow me to have a certain level of control over my own development and let me choose what activities to participate in. IBM is also fab in the sense there is so much to get involved in off the job, such as communities and giveback
Very organised. We have a learning plan that maps out what we need to complete to finish our apprenticeship- and we also use etrack to map our coursework to the criteria needed to pass the scheme. My only 'even better if' would be if we had more of a warning on the quantity of coursework at the beginning - to better prepare
On the whole we do receive a lot of support, but I have found it more to be a case of the support being there if you need it- in the sense you can reach out to apprentice managers etc, but they don't necessarily baby you and check in frequently.
As our training provider is IBM- similar answer to above. Some of the outsourced courses through QA are particularly good and thorough. IBM ran courses are a really enjoyable experience from a social and networking perspective, but some instructors are not always engaging though. (but this will be a matter of opinion!)
My level four qualification will 100% equips me to perform better in my role. All of the knowledge units we have to study give us a really good grounding into different business functions, and even the courses such as 'how to present'- build my confidence to be able to speak comfortably in front of my team/clients,
Yes, and I fully take advantage of them! There are so many communities, which are time consuming to help out with but totally worth the extra effort. (these include BAME, LGBT+, foundation females etc) The early professionals network is also really good. I have made some awesome friends who I regularly go out with outside of work
Yes
If you enjoy business, I really think an apprenticeship is the way to go. You can still gain a degree if that is what you want - but I overall believe the workplace/industry experience is priceless. I have learnt so much and am still learning everyday. By the time my friends graduate from uni, I will already have 3 years work experience and a guaranteed job!
-Research the company and follow your passion -Be enthusiastic and willing to learn. you are never expected to know things before joining- they will train you up -Get involved in as much as possible, to build your experience and network -In interview, use as many examples as u can of when u have demonstrated the relevant skills before
