Currently training in DevOps using agile methodologies. Collaborating with others and preparing for client site work. You have your own tasks and responsibilites. You can also get involved in lots of different side groups. You can giveback to different areas of business or community. Lots of different experiences to learn from.
Yes, since joining I have learnt lots. This includes communication skills and how to interact in a business setting, DevOps and some tools including ansible and terraform, Testing and some SAP. I also have obtained a few certificates including ISTQB foundation course and certified mobile app tester course. I have been able to interact with clients.
I do enjoy the programme. There is lots of opportunity and great people around. There is plenty of different things to get involved in so you are never bored. Always something to learn or focus on. I love the working styles and people that are around you. Very relaxed and enjoyable.
Courses are well structured however day to day work could be better prepared. The courses are set out and scheduled so I know when they are and where they are expected to happen. As general work is client focused, this can be difficult if there are few projects/work to join.
As much as I need. There is always someone to help. And people are always checking in making sure you are okay. If you need something there is always your manager, peers, mentors, buddies, support groups, team meetings and so much more. Lots of handy guides and support documents should you need them.
Great support in creating targets and achieveing the criteria needed to pass. I have monthly meetings with my coach where we review my targets and the work I have done. We also plan in new targets for the next session. These are a mix of virtual and face to face. If I was to ever need anything there would be the help and support available.
Passing my apprenticeship will secure me a role. Therefore it is important I pass. However the apprenticeship allows me to learn all the skills I need to perform well when I progress in the company. Being able to perform real tasks on the job whilst being an apprentice is a great balance. However sometimes you have to turn down opportunities if they do not help you pass your apprenticeship due to set out requirements.
There is so much to get involved with. Different social groups, internal projects, personal projects for development. Often the project you are on has team events and socials. There is also many events that happen throughout the year. You can often get involved where you can meet people and learn something new.
Yes
Great company to work for. Pay and benefits are amazing. Everyone is really friendly and helpful. There is so much opportunity and room for progression. Lots of learning resources and internal activities to be getting involved in. Also has a very inclusive culture. Everyone is equal regardless of who you are or where you come from.
Be yourself and don't try to be anyone you're not. Don't worry about previous experience and technical skills. Skills can be taught but a driven attitude to work hard and develop cannot. If you are determined and focused then apply. If you have any questions then reach out. Someone will be able to help you.
