I make payments out of Sages bank accounts to many different suppliers and intercompany payments. I help run reports at month end so that the reconciliations can be done and the periods can be closed off. As I am on the payments team my job mainly does consist of making payments but I do help with postings of payments and occasionally matching journals
I have learned a lot of new skills since starting this apprenticeship in Finance. I have learned how to be more organised and how to manage my time mire. It is important to be organised in my role as sometimes you have to prioritise urgent payments and its key that you still know exactly what you have to do and when
I really enjoy the programme that I am on at the moment. I have previously completed an apprenticeship at Sage in Customer Service but I didnt think that was for me. Since moving to the Finance Function I really enjoy all of the work that I get given and also learning about accounting in College
I think that the programme that I am on is very organised as from my first day I always had a plan and knew what I was doing each day. I had an onboarding plan and felt like there was always something to do and It was always very well planned
I think that my employer gives me loads of support with the work that I complete. Sometimes I still forget how to make certain payments and I always feel like whenever I ask a question, I get an answer really quickly and usually have one of my colleagues sitting with me and helping me walk through the task I may not have been sure with.
As I have to sit exams regularly and I attend class every Friday, I feel like I do get some support but sometimes not as much as I do when I am at work. As it is a lot of hard learning, Sometimes I feel as though there could be more support given to me at times when I dont understand some questions
I think that since learning in class and expanding my knowledge in accounting that it has helped me quite a bit in my job role. This is mostly because I can pick up on the jargon and know the names of reports that I run and know exactly what they do.
There are extra curricular activities at my work that I could get involved in, however I do my own hobbies after work so I dont have much time to be able to get involved with the ones that are held at work. If I had more time I would get involved.
Yes
I have had a good experience both times that I have done Apprenticeships at Sage. I have always been happy there and felt like I have received a lot of support through out the whole apprenticeship. You also get to make good friends in your apprenticeship as you get close to the people you start with
Just to be yourself as sometimes that outshines you from the rest. Also to always as for support when you need it as I feel like Sage will always go above and beyond to help you and provide you with any extra training which will help you to grow and expand your knowledge
