Control techncian - maintaining automated systems of manufacturing, the role includes working within an intergral team to maximise production by maintaining manufacturing machines. Daily duties may include planning and preventetive maintenance, TPM and problem solving.
Problem solving is important and should be developed immensly. Practical skills are also vital. Organisation is a very important skill to learn and develop.
I enjoy being able to develop my knowledge through study but also gaining experience in the workplace. I enjoy being part of a prestige company with an excellent culture and opportunity.
The college (studying) element is relativly organised. During the first few weeks at college organisation was not great however, the team began to manage our timetables better. The programme is 4-years and consists, college first year is full time and then mainly at our plant with release days to study.
I have recieved a considerable amount of support, our manager is friendly and will offer support whether work related or personal.
I feel relativly supported from the training providers however, the quality of teaching can be improved.
Many units are relevant and provide foundation knowledge and skills, I believe the combination of training at college and experience on plant is satisfactory preparation to be able to competently perform my role.
The first week of employment involved going to North Devon for team building, it was great and proves BMW Group value their teams. Our plant has a gym and facilities for employees to use. Business improvements are always welcome.
