My day to day work life requires multiple different activities but to summerise my role i would say i create scripts for testing new software changes, also designing documents for changes in software and i also test some of the software which has been changed.
Yes i have learned so much in the field of IT from different IT environments to technical features such as information flows and xml files. I've also developed existing skills such as presentation work and discussions.
I have very much enjoyed first year. The support available is outstanding.
The structure of the course and apprenticeship is accessible anytime you want to see it however when first joining they took extra care making sure that you are comfortable and understand everything that is going to happen throughout your time with DHL.
The support is perfect. I have 5 lines of contacts i can reach if i have concerns about either the learning aspect or the work aspect. You will never feel isolated.
I have my own tutor that will keep you on track and support you with your learning and there are the other members of the OU that can help at any time.
I love how integrated the learning and work is. I can take what i learn from the OU study days and apply the new teaching to my work or the work environment i find myself in. Top class
There are a lot of opportunities that the company will happily let you and want you to experience. One i was really excited for before the pandemic was at Royal Sandhurst for team building and leadership with the Armed forces.
Yes
The company has so many areas in which to work and the opportunities that present themselves from being in the company is insane, i've met a lot of great people and feel better working there for it.
I would say that it's important to be yourself. It isn't about being the smartest or the best at what you do but more what you can bring to the company. Prepare yourself on the things you are good at or are passionate about and speak with intent.
