My job role is to support Sage's 50 cloud payroll, Instant payroll and salary and supplier payments customers. Helping them with their product through telephone giving advise and support on how to use it. I speak to medium size businesses, accountants and resellers. My contracted hours are Monday to Friday 9-5
I have learnt so many new skills through completing this apprenticeship, for example what needs work best for each customer type. Dealing with challenging customers which i really struggled with at the beginning of my apprentice. Finally improved my professional skills as well through gaining more experience as this was my first job from leaving school.
I love the people i work with in Sage, going through this apprenticeship course with my other colleagues i have made some amazing friends. I love how Sage's vision is to put the customer first and make sure that what we do will benefit and help others. Its one of my favourite things about working at sage, the people i work with.
Throughout my apprenticeship i have received lots of support with the job side of it but also the qualification. From day one to receiving, 2 week induction to meet everyone. To then 6 weeks getting training support on the product followed by regular coaching sessions. Also with my course work, 1 day every two weeks to complete assignments and regular catch ups with my mentor to go over everything.
Within my 2 years at Sage i have had 3 different managers who have all followed the same Guidance and gave same amount off access to support. They have always made me feel welcome to talk to them about anything and have gave me a lot of support. If it wasnt for them i properly wouldnt still be here!
At the start i got one full day every two weeks to have a classroom session with Carren my tutor to be able to complete coursework. I also got a couple of hours catch up every few weeks with Amanda to go over where i am up to and complete reviews. I always felt that they were both very approachable and very helpful.
My qualification has helped me perform better in my role in lots of ways, for example learning the different customer types. This has helped me because when i first started taking calls i struggled to deal with the challenging and undecided customer. From them learning about the best skills and needs for them i more feel a lot more confident dealing with those customer types.
At Sage we get 5 volunteer days to go out and help communities and charities. I really enjoying using this days to give back to our communities and help other businesses where i can. Its also another way to get to know other people in and out side of the business. Sage usually arrange a big foundation day for all apprentices across country to get to know each other, its great!
Yes
I would recommend Sage to a friend because they have really helped me get use to the 'proper job world' giving me the education and experience to be able to complete my job confidently but also enjoy it. They have already helped me with with career moves within Sage by giving me the chance to coach some of the new people.
Advice i would give would be to confident and remain persistent through the challenges. Its not going to be easy but what job is easy? You will get all the support needed to be able to do the job from both the call taking to the qualification an is all helpful.
