I am a Hybrid App developer so thats building apps on any platform e.g. IOS, Android etc. This means my daily tasks are building apps... one day I could be building the apps layout/design in HTML & CSS and the next I could be building the back end in PHP. Everyday I attend daily stand ups with the client. These are 15min meetings where I tell the client what tasks I'll be doing on that day and if they have any questions, they'll ask me them in the call.
I joined the apprenticeship straight after leaving sixth form and had no experiance with coding. Now 5 months later with the training Accenture have provided I could easily create an app or website using the skills I have learnt. As part of my job role I have training in HTML, CSS, SQL and PHP. They also showed me how to use the computers terminal. I use this to run the biulds of the app.
I really enjoy coding. I like to see how apps/websites develop the longer I spend on them. I also like coding in complicated features as when it's finished it pays off as they look good. My goal is to become some sort of master coder who is knowning in the company. Its a good thing to be known in the company but only for the right reasons. This will help if you wanted to move job roles or even promotions.
Accenture make me feel like I'm a huge part of their company. They always have support and training if you need it. I also get recognition outside the company as people tend to like the content we create and give us positive feedback.
They sick you with experianced people so you always have the support if you need it. They also keep you on track and help you achieve your goals.
In Accenture I get a lot of support. When I started my role I got a buddy who is another apprentice who will help you if you have a problem.
In my job role I work in a team who always supports each other. We have meetings every friday to talk about how we got on within the week. If we raise any problems, we'll look for a way around this. This could be something like training needed... which then in the following week, training would be put in place for us.
The first year of the apprenticeship the salary is okay, I have enough for travel, food, living costs and social costs. Then in the second and thrid year the salary increases which will be amazing. Then at the end of the apprenticeship you get an extra £2.000 just for finishing it.
There are plenty of opportunities outside of work for example there's always a chance for you to travel arounf the world. You can also do charity work if you want to.
Yes
I would recommend a friend to Accenture because it's a greate place for them to develop their coding skills. They also give you amazing opportunities to travel or progress your way higher in the business.
If you're wanting to join the Accenture Apprenticeship scheme, my tips would be to make sure you've cover every bit of experiance you have in your application. Once you have the interview, show the passion you have for the apprenticeship. This will show them you want it. On the assessment day I would make sure you're talking to people and taking part in the tasks. However don't be too out there (making it all about you), you want to show them you work good in a team.
