  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My job role is in backline customer service in the Digital knowledge team. My team creates all digital knowledge content for customers on all UKI products. My role is to look after Sage 50cloud Accounts help centre, and all content found within it. I also review content and create new technical user guides and deliver product-related live webinars.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Within my job I manage my own time, meaning I have had to improve my time management. I have also become very familiar with different software packages that I had not used before and have developed HTML and CSS coding languages. Sage also trained me on Sage Business Cloud Accounting and Sage 50cloud Accounts.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I love my job and having to work closely with my team. Since we all have good working relations, it is a great working environment. The Business admin level 3 apprenticeship program was not organised very well, however with the help of my colleagues I was able to make it work.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The programme was very unorganised. I ended up having multiple trainers, that all told us something different, and didn't feel confident about any part. I did get support when I needed it from my tutor but there was always a delay or having to chase it up. Overall, I didn't rate the programme.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I work really closely with my manager and my team, and they are all very supportive. Sage also has many apprentice events to help bring the apprentice community together. All new apprentice get a mentor to support them where ever they can.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I attend college every other week in Newcastle. My tutor is always happy to help in finding routes that I can take to meet the criteria in the qualification. Sometimes things can be missed as I have a few tutors for different units, but I can always email my tutor to find out what I need.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • The qualification that I am compleating is Business Admin and this doesn't really relate to my role. I do get some useful information and I have learned things however, I don't think that the qualification improves how I perform that much. The main thing that I have been able to improve is project management.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Depending on your team and department, Sage has many company events. In Customer services, there are often parties and team nights/events out. You also get 5 days a year for Sage Foundation where you can give back to the community. We also have some events that are just for the apprentices.

  • 9a. Would you recommend Sage to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • I would recommend an apprenticeship at Sage as it is a good company to work for. As an apprentice, I know that you aren't in a typical apprentice role with little responsibility and that you are actually given real roles and responsibilities. You also get some perks with working at Sage.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Sage?
  • If you think Sage is a place you would like to work I would recommend that you try and get work experience before you apply so that you have more of a chance of getting the role! I would also recommend being yourself as the best part about Sage is the people.
