I work in Lending Operations, so I look after loans maintenance, such as utilisations, prepayments and rollovers.
RBS/Natwest provide internal training regularly, and there is always an opportunity to develop a skill. I have learnt a lot in my role, and developed many skills.
My workplace and team support my learning and any time out I need to take for my apprenticeship. I enjoy doing something different and learning new skills within my apprenticeship, but it can be a difficult task to balance daily work and the apprenticeship, especially when your job role is quite busy and demanding. Whereas some of my peers on the apprenticeship are in a much quieter, slower paced job role.
I am unsure if it is due to Covid-19, but the programme has not been very well organised so far. For example, there was supposed to be a webinar on a certain day, which people would have taken time out of their working week to attend, and the tutor didn't show up (maybe due to communication issues), so the webinar had to be rescheduled.
My employer is very supportive, especially my manager and colleagues. If I need extra time or support on my apprenticeship, I am given the help without any issues.
BPP are very supportive of any issues or worries the apprentices may have and are quick to help if needed.
The qualification teaches basic skills such as communication and professionalism, but I must say that the qualification does not help me to perform better in my job role as such, I feel they are basic life skills.
There is a lot of activities, social, sporting and networking events to get involved in. There are team events and 'People Weeks' which focus on the employees. There is an opportunity for 3 paid volunteering days, which are encouraged. There are clubs to join such as yoga and choir.
Yes
It is a great opportunity to get on the career ladder, and has given me an opportunity to get into a field I may not have otherwise gotten into. Would definitely recommend for someone looking for a stable career with good progression and opportunities.
Just be yourself in the interview stages, don't give up with it as it will be worth it in the end, even if it gets too difficult.
