  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My role in the apprenticeship will depend on where i am as there is different placements around the business. To make sure you learn the different skills that will be needed while working there, so i shadow different people around the business in order to do this learning different skills for each one. Such as when doing maintanence work i will shadow an engineer in order to see what the day to day actions are. This can mean every day is different as when doing preventive and productive mantainence it will depend what will come up when and the challeneges in order to tackle it. In all you ask questions and learn as you go in each of the placements but no day is the same.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learned many new skills through out the apprenticeship as well as developeing skills as it goes on. Any skill you would need for the job you can practice and because of the time frame of the apprenticeship there is plenty of time to get better at any skills you are not good at, you also do practical work at college before entering the work place where you learn a basic of all the skills you would need and then you develope them so yes i have.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoy the programme alot it covers everything i expected within the industry and keeps me intrested each and every day. Its great for meeting new people as the work place is so large and there is a lot of intresting things you wouldnt imagine you get to do or see. I enjoy it the most as every day is different so there is no day the same where you get bored and see work as unenjoyable

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The programme is really well structure, you have time at college to learn fundemental skills for the work place and then you still do day release so you are constantly learning throughout the apprenticeship which is great. You have management and mentors which help guild you and support you through any issues you may have while doing the apprenticeship. This allows it to keep running smoothly as if there is any issues you can raise them you can also put in suggestions to improve things which are taken seriously and can make everything better for everyone

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • The employer provides full support with everything i do, they support you in education and while at the work place and if you do have any issues you can just go talk to your manager about it and it will try to get solved. If you have any ideas or training course you would like you can speak to them about it and mostly they will support you as it will benifit the company and make you an more rounded employee

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • The training provider is very good in supporting throughout the studies, they will help if you are stuck with anything and if your not in college/uni on the day they are normally pretty good at getting back to emails and will do what they can to help and guild you in the right direction while studying. This is great cus it means you dont feel alone while studying and you always know which path to go down.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I feel it provides fundamental skills that you need to learn before working in the company in order to understand what is going on within day to day work. Some stuff you will still learn on the job and alot of it will be new but having the basics from the training provides helps you understand what is being spoken about and even have some of your own ideas. It also is great for health and safety as you learn the right and wrongs within a dangrous industry you should know this before working there.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • There is loads of extra curricular activies within the work place, such as charity runs, walks, climes and even quizs. There is a newsletter that goes out that tells you what is going on within the company so you can gre involved with things and build a bigger social network within the company. The company is always looking to expenad these activities so if you had an idea you can put forward and could be considered to be an activitie for everyone.

  • 9a. Would you recommend BMW Group to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • I would recommened it because it is a very good caree with great training and a lovely workplace. Everyday is rewarding as you improve you skills and become a better engineer. Its a friendly enviroment and everyone gets on with each other as well as trying to help each other. By the end of the programme you should have everything you need to be able to do the job and be happy in a great job and workplace so i would recommened it.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BMW Group?
  • Firstly be yourself when applying, they are not looking for someone who knows it all since the job is there to teach you everything you should know when working there. Come prepared however if you get past the testing stage you will come for interviews so make sure you know what your talking about within the company and know what job you are coming for and then just be yourself and get across how passionate you would be about the job.
