  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • Either studying in college or out on placement gaining experience across different parts of the company. College involves a lot of self studying and reading in order to understand the theoretical side of stuff such as Nuclear Science and Thermodynamics. Work placement is the best part as you are a part of a team working on stuff that matters and contributes to the project. This could be either working producing documents or inspecting a system thats been put into service.

  • Yes, I have developed several new skills and developed existing ones with the help of work colleagues and tutors.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I am enjoying my experience so far on the programme. Several challenges but also rewarding at the end when completing a job.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • Good structure, can be some confusion with assignment managers when we go on our college block but overall good.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • All the support I need is there form the employer. From work being carried out to mental health and regular health issues as well.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • The support needed from them is also great. Can be a bit slow at times to respond but they do deal with 100's of students other than us so is understandable.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • The qualification helps with the background information when discussing a topic in work. It may not be applied in the same way but the knoweldge gained from the qualification is useful.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Currently difficult to do due to Covid situation!

  • Yes

  • Great employer, all the support you need is there and a great salary as well!


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to EDF?
  • Be confident and make sure you know a bit about EDF Energy before applying.
