I am a Business Analyst and this requires working with various stakeholders in the business, especially my IT department to create digital products to help our customers experience shopping online. It is easy to pick up as well as many people our age use technology day to day so feels like you have an expertise on how certain technology products should work that makes you a useful asset within the business. This role is great for anyone who is passionate about Business, IT and Design.
I have developed many different skills ranging from presenting skills this is done to lecturers, small groups or my whole department the company and uni will push you to improve on this. Product development and management by seeing a products cycle from start to finish and of everything that goes into making a vision physical product for customers to use. Technical knowledge of how websites and applications work with the in and outs of the back end and third parties.
I absolutely love my programme, it's something I've always wanted to do for a long time since being young and I am just lucky and over the moon to get this opportunity to get paid whilst getting a free degree out of it. This is because of enjoying Art, IT and Business in school to then eventually take up Business, IT and Graphics in college. As this programme is totally catered to anyone who has similar interest if you love new technology.
I feel like my programme is very well organised and the programme always wants to keep getting regular feedback and updates from us to alway improve it for us and the future students that will go through the same things. However, it is still in its infancy, so there is still room for improvement but as soon as issues get raised they are resolved instantly so the programme is on the right track to always be structured effectively.
My employer was highly involved at the first two years of the programme but due to the company always changing personally the people who where invested in the programme at the start have now sadly left the business. Therefore, seems to be no investment in the programme in the future which is sad but there is still a lot of support from my manager and the employees around me in my department by always helping.
I feel like my university are always there to help with anything. If it means I am struggling with a certain module, I am eager to learn more or I feel like there is somewhere for improvement. They just want us to achieve the best possible results and grades with great guidance of how to achieve these. Something i think most university students don't receive from the average university course. Only know this due people my age doing a normal degree.
I feel like from the qualifications at university from the training provider to my role as a Business Analyst at the Very group are tightly in sync. As I feel like I go to work and learn so much to easily pick up and understand the university work that gets put forward to us as I can relate much of it to a real life situation I've been in myself. And vice versa by then learning new things at university that my work haven't done to then take into work to teach others what I've learnt for them to apply.
There are a range of extra-curricular activities to get involved in if this is joining groups outside of work that are supported by my company. As I am into my fitness myself there is football teams, table tennis teams and tournaments to get involved into to being able to attend the gym and classes within the gym. There is even small groups that get together to network across the whole business as there are many more people that work there except for my IT department.
Yes
It has many various opportunities to get involved in and to push yourself to develop as well as the many range of benefits from massive discounts from Very.co.uk that sells nearly every product that you and your friends and family will use. To sales of designer products sold for cheap just to employees and the gym to join. Not only that you have a very friendly environment of people around you to help you and help you develop.
I would say learn what The Very Group stands for and the people that work there of what they expect of everyone when working there. If you want to work in technology and have a strong passion for it make sure that is what shines through as the company is looking fo people interested in technology in any development to overall be a company that can be ahead of it's competitors as it's all going online.
