My role is to manage a team of up to 8 people. I am responsible in monitoring their performance in relation to key performance indicators and coach/train in new processes. i complete regular 121 meetings and also team meetings. i am also responsible for managing any performance issues and compiling action plans and training to support and reduce these.
i have developed lots of new skills whilst completing my apprenticeship for example i have learnt about theoretical approaches in leading and management which i have been able to relate to and also put into my own practices. i have also learnt about organisational techniques which i have also been able to cascade to my team which in turn supports them.
i have enjoyed working along side other apprentices on my cohort and sharing our views and practices. by sharing good/best practice it has helped me in looking at ways i can manage my team. i have also learnt about how my management styles have link to theorists and studies and also why this helps.
i felt the program was very well organised and the structure flowed. my training and development officer was very supportive and helpful if i need any additional support. i have enjoyed this program and i have now enrolled one of my team members onto this and i look forward to seeing her development.
my employer was very supportive, they allowed me time out to complete my classroom sessions and also supported me in my 20% off the job training. my employer also engaged in regular reviews with my training and development office and myself and also completed feedback and witness testimonies on my practice.
my training and development office has been very helpful and supportive. she has been able to share her knowledge and experience which has supported my in my assignments. she has also given lots of feedback and areas for development and areas i completed well. we have be able to have 121 assessment discussions as well and this supports my preferred learning style.
this qualification has really helped support me in my new management role. it has identified different leadership and management styles and how i can use these to support my team as a whole. it has also helped me identify my strengths and to continue to build on these and also areas for development to work on.
during the week we have a well being Wednesday activities where the sector i work in come together to complete a well being task such as a walk or quiz. i have also been able to attend awards ceremonies where i have been able to network as well and meet professionals within the same sector and other sectors.
