My Job title is Electrical Designer. The Electrical Team are responsible for power primarily offshore. Day to day I produce drawings that once approved are sent offshore to be implemented. I work within an Electrical Team but liaise with other disciplines on the project.
I have developed my AutoCAD skills but learned how to use new software such as PDMS. I have been on many training courses that have been relevant to my role as well as practical courses such as BOSIET & MIST to allow me to go offshore.
Overall I did enjoy my traineeship.
AMEC FW have invested a lot in me and stood by me also in difficult times, for which I'm thankful.
The program is organized to an extent but a lot is left to the trainee to take the initiative which is fine if the trainee is driven.
If this question is regarding Angus College then I was fortunate that my assessor was a very nice man who was extremely helpful in conveying what he expected of me and the sort of jobs/scopes that I should be looking to set aside for review.
I have been very well supported during my time here. I actually couldn't have asked for more in that regard.
Very well.
There is a lot for people to get involved in if they should choose to outwith work.
Yes
They will have a very good opportunity here to carve out a very good career in the oil & gas industry which because of the structure of the company they can climb the ladder and work their way up. They can get learn and get involved in interesting work and do something they enjoy for a living.
Be yourself, do your best & take any opportunities that come your way.
