I study the aircrafts engines and put them together with the help of the workers around rolls Royce as I am always learning which is the practical side and then I also have college every two week where I study and learn in more depth about rolls Royce and there engines and how everything we do out on the workshop floor works and why which is the theory side to the apprenticeship and we also get to go around each section of rolls Royce to get an experience of each part
I have learnt many different skills within my apprenticeship at rolls Royce such as working more confidently independently as at the start of my apprenticeship I wasn’t and I have also learnt many technically skills regarding fitting parts to the engine like how to attach hydraulic pipes and brackets. I also wish to keep developing new skills further into my apprenticeship as I am only half way through and feel I have so much more to learn
I enjoy my program very much as I feel it’s the best program you could get that opens up not just one future path to take but many paths such as being a fitter or a tester and I feel like it has so many options as well as allowing you to have an experience in all of them. Overall i think the program is very good and you learn lots as well as enjoy it
I feel like it’s structured however in some areas it’s not very organised especially when it comes to college saying one thing and rolls Royce saying another because they don’t know the same thing and sometimes when events are being organised it can be a bit confusing and slightly complicated do to again lack of organisation. However there is some aspects of the program that are organised and structured well but quite a few areas lack organisation
I think that with the company a high amount of support is received and if we ask for help you get that help however within my college and exams that are behind due to not being able to pass I feel like there could be a bit more of support as there isn’t a great deal but for rolls Royce as a company the support it very good and is there when needed and is responded to quickly
As said above I feel like In general the college has a good support scene however within exams that are behind due to not passing there is a lack of support and help which makes it harder as you fall even more behind And sometimes the response for help can be slow especially as we only have college ever two weeks which can make it a lot more difficult and the fact that the tutors also teach other classes of everyone else on the apprenticeship at all times so they hard to get in touch with at times
I feel like most of the things that we get taught within college is extremely helpFul and useful to what we are doing within our role however I also feel that sometimes the things that we are learning just are relevant to my role as a fitter for example learning about the cooling system in a fridge i didn’t fee would help me in anyway to fitting parts on to an aircraft engine but the knowledge related to engine fitting it good
I think that’s there is activities to join as Ik that some colleges do that however I’m not part of any so I can’t really say much about them but I know that there are things on notice boards and sent in emails but not a great deal that I’m aware of but I think there is some such as musical bands the rolls Royce bands and there is also a gym on the rolls Royce campus that many people from rolls Royce go to
Yes
I think it’s a great experience and have many opportunities and I also think that the money that you get once you have a job at rolls Royce is also very good and helpful and I think they are very good as providing help and support when needed in the business and as I have also said above it provides many opportunities and career path that you can choose to take with in the future
I think that you should look into all the different options that they have and see which ones you want to explore as each rolls within the company is very different. I also think that you should pick a rills which you feel is suited for you but also not worry if it’s not when your in that role cause there many other different options you can look into and take and to just give it a go as it’s a good experience
