I am a DevOps engineer working within iD Mobile which is an MVNO. On a day-to-day basis my job role includes deployment of code, assisting the management of our cloud infrastructure and documenting wherever possible. As an apprentice my role is the same as the team of DevOps engineers who I work with.
Prior to starting my apprenticeship with Dixons Carphone I had no experience within the DevOps field however now I have learnt a range of new skills related to coding, cloud infrastructure and the way mobile networks operate. I have also learnt a lot from my degree which I have been able to transfer to my job role.
I enjoy my programme to a large extent. This is because it allows me to gain on-the-job experience as well as a bachelors degree. I thoroughly enjoy working in my role on a day-to-day basis.
My programme is well organised and structured. I regularly have review meetings with my managers and I am allocated sufficient time per week to study for my degree.
Dixons Carphone are supportive of my apprenticeship and my manager and team that I work with are both extremely supportive in assisting with my development within the role and ensuring that I am progressing.
My training provider supports me regularly when working towards my qualifications. They book regular meetings with me to ensure that I am on track with meeting aims and objectives and my tutor assists with any queries I have related to my course.
I feel that my qualification helps me to perform better within my role as there is a lot of transferable knowledge and skills that I learn from my degree course which can be applied in my day-to-day job role at Dixons Carphone.
At Dixons Carphone we occasionally have some extra-curricular activities that we can get involved with at work.
Yes
Dixons Carphone is a very supportive company and the course itself allows me to develop my skills and knowledge. As well as this there are a range of career opportunities with Dixons Carphone and an array of benefits available.
