- Application Developer - Fix Faults, create applications and input messages and change applications in various different software applications - Interact with contractors & other IBM colleagues internally - Regarding externally I interact with the client that I work with
- Throughout my time here at IBM I have learnt many new skills and improved skills that I was weaker in the first place. IBM have put me on a few training courses regarding my job role, so I went on a programming foundation course and doing my own self paced learning too! I have improved my confidence and majorly improved my presentation skills.
- I enjoy my working life as I now live on my own and IBM pays for it all! Regarding work I really enjoy working with the people that I work with in my team, every is sociable and always willing to help out! It definitely met my expectations before I came into IBM if not exceeded them to be honest.
- Within IBM it various really, as my task manager sometimes makes me feel valuable when I am working on one piece of work but then it can flip when doing another piece of work, I think this is really down to who your manager is at the end of the day! My apprenticeship manager really makes me feel positive and gives me so many opportunities to do things.
- The structure and organisation of the apprenticeship programme within IBM couldn't be better, as there are well defined dates, and well defined tasks we have to complete by a particular date or challenges that we can get involved with to improve our score for that year.
- Because the apprenticeship is all based on, 'on-the-job learning' this means we have to fill out a journal and submit it into a database then this is how we do all of our learning and how we get marked. I like this as we can fill it out as and when we want to do it, and it isn't like traditional learning. Where as we do have a few week long training courses throughout the 3 years on the apprenticeship.
- Everyone is very supportive within IBM and always willing to help a fellow colleague out. There are unlimited amount of opportunities in IBM, people are always willing to show you what they do and give you an experience of all this.
- Regarding my salary this is something that is fantastic compared to many other apprenticeships, getting a pay rise every 6 months up until the apprenticeship finishes when you then go onto a salary depending on what rating you got over the last 3 years. Regarding my costs; myself personally doesn't pay anything from my salary, IBM pays for everything. I have had to move out of my house and move to a new location where IBM pay for an apartment to rent and also give me living costs & mileage money too!!
- Depending on where you are based I guess this will vary. But there are IBM Clubs where you can participate in various events for example football to theater trips.
Yes
- Because of the vast amount of opportunities and the recognition of having IBM on your CV.
- Confidence - Try and do things that show initiative, for example if you are going for a technical role, do something technical outside of school or of your working day!
