the majority of my role is based on clearing/chasing debtors. these include vehicle, cash, manufacturers and warranty. these are looked at in a timely manner so as to raise and potential issues. bank payments and receipts are also cleared and this helps to maintain debtors another large aspect of my role is to process the invoices we receive that relate to our bodyshop discounts. these are done regularly to avoid unexpected costs building up
Learning the theory behind some of the accounting procedures has helped with my practical work. i have found that providing an understanding to the background of my practical work has made the working day more efficient additional learning to what i do in my role has been beneficial in expanding my accounting knowledge with the prospect of taking on new roles.
i am enjoying learning new aspects to accounting as my work role has been limited to debt management. it is good to be able to do workshops at different sites with colleagues from other sites. we are able to draw in from different experiences.
the course has been structured well. we have two workshops a month which is good to maintain regular learning. Our course tutor is well prepared for each of our sessions and always provides detailed and clear subject content.
we are given two days a month from our normal working day to do our course workshops. we are also given time off to do our exams.
i have received good support from our training provider. we have had contact to keep up to date with how the workshops are progressing and what is required regarding maths and English. support has also been provided outside the apprenticeship context especially during the furlough period
the breakdown of different aspects of accounting has been beneficial in understanding the practical aspect of my role. The first experience of this was doing journals relating to the bank and understanding the debits and credits side of the accounts.
We have some social evenings through work. These are normally department related rather than the whole site

I have worked in an accounts role for two different companies. I have found that working for my current company has been more beneficial as it has widened my knowledge of accounts. it has been enhanced from just doing purchase ledger to doing debt management, balance sheets and working within a larger team
ensure you are ready to work in a fast paced environment. this company is prepared to support additional training if that is a route you would like to take
