1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

Audit trainee, working as a junior on various audit clients alongside studying for the ACA.

2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

Improving team work and communication skills. Improving client relationship skills. Learning new skills regarding accounting and audit processes. Working with a variety of clients and IT systems.

3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I enjoy the variety and challenging nature of my work. We have a good team mentality and working together on audits is rewarding.

4. How well organised/structured is your programme?

My programme is very structured, my time is spent either gaining experience working on audit clients or studying towards the ACA qualification.

5. How much support do you receive from your employer?

I receive good support form my employer. Progress is evaluated bi-annually against internal standards and against my apprenticeship standard and relevant qualifications. We are given good support in terms of time allowed for exam study and revision.

6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

First Intuition provide great support. I have progress reviews with my skills coach at regular intervals. In terms of study we are given good support in terms of documentation provided and the tutors are always available if extra help is required.

7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

My learning towards my ACA qualification helps me perform better in my role. The added understanding I gian form my studies helps me become a more efficient auditor and require less supervision form senior team members.

8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

Before lockdown there was lots to get involved with. We play football after work each week and table tennis during our lunch breaks. there are also mixed hockey, netball, softball, cricket teams. We are doing an office cycle to Paris when restrictions allow it. We have a monthly drinks evening for the whole firm in the office and other events during the year such as the Christmas ball, new joiners dinner and Summer ball.

It's a good place to work, there is a good work environment but at the same time the work is challenging and engaging.

10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Evelyn Partners?

The application process is fairly straightforward. The interviews and assessment days are an amazing chance to ask questions and se if S&W would be a good fit for you so if you reach that stage be as proactive as possible. Working as a trainee is hard work as you have to balance studying with work but it is very rewarding when you see that pass mark on the ACA exams.
