  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I manage a team of 7 training and development officers to ensure they meet KPI's. I monitor data, starts and performance of team. I deliver team meetings to share knowledge. I conduct monthly 1-1 meetings with TDO's. I attend monthly management meetings where we discuss the budget. I support my team with any training requirements. I also monitor any HSC debt and liaise with employers to ensure that accounts are settled. I also manage starts.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I learnt a substantial amount of new knowledge, skills and behaviours to support my job role. I ve have learnt about different models and theories that help in different situations. I have learnt how to conduct myself professionally and learnt the importance of emotional intelligence. I have become a more confident manager and I built up trust within in the team. I have received feedback from my team saying I have developed into a really good supportive manager and they enjoy coming to work.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • The course has benefited me hugely. My confidence has grown and I have grown and developed as a person. Learning about all the different models and theories has helped me lead people, manage a team, build relationships, dealing with conflict and completing projects. I have enjoyed studying again and gaining valuable knowledge, skills and behaviours. I am keen to keep progressing in my career and my steps are to complete my L5 course in management

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • I have always known the stages of the qualification. Regular reviews were conducted with myself, assessor and manager to discuss progress. During reviews each stage of the qualification was discussed and progress made. I completed regular scorecards to ensure I was continually gaining knowledge, skills and behaviours. Smart targets were always set for me and I was very clear on the expectations of the course. Full support was always given . Classroom sessions were well prepared and structured.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • My employer always followed the 20% off the job ring. I was always supported to take time out of my working day to spend on research for the qualification. My manager was a fabtastic mentor and was always there to answer and questions or support where necessary. I feel that I was fully supported by my manager abd assessor. My learning journey has been a positive experience. I am eager to begin my L5 management course with Interserve Learning and Employment.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • My team regularly conduct events for Charity. These events support the team with Health and Wellbeing. We conducted a team meeting with games etc and raised money for the NSPCC. A team member completed a half marathon raising money for Macmillian Cancer Care. At present we are completing a team 1 million steps challenge raising money for Diabetes Awareness. The team are also eager to get involved in Charity events raising money for different causes.

  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • Interserve go above and beyond to support apprentices. Interserve ensure you are fully aware of your learning journey and an overview and the course and delivery is given at the start of the course. Help is always available and full support given. Assessor are professional and knowledgeable in there job role. Assessor gives support to enable you to stay on track with your course which ensures that you complete your qualification on time. It was enjoyable to complete my course.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Realise?
  • Interserve strongly believe in values. Ensure that you present yourself well, be friendly, be professional and able to demonstrate knowledge within job role. Be approachable and trustworthy at all times. Have a drive and passion for subject area. Be ready to be part of one team . Have a drive to progress in your career and also to be a support mechanism for other assessors if you specialise in a certain area. Be committed to your role.
