I support the team with daily tasks such as raising orders, printing job packs and emailing with clients. I also work on permitting which is a skill i developed during my time at Kier.
I have improved certain skills such as using Excel, talking in a professional manner and how to write emails to colleagues and clients to maintain professionalism.
As I carry out different tasks during the day alongside my daily tasks, I am kept busy and challenged which keeps me on my toes. I enjoy this as it makes me feel like time is going fast as I am constantly doing work.
The programme is well organised with LSP as I have regular meetings/catch ups with my tutor (Hersha) and she always ensures I am improving my work and supports me whenever I need her. I am able to work and study at the same due to the support from my work place and tutor.
I receive a lot of support from my line manager. He makes sure there is always time for me to do my apprenticeship work and is always willing to help if I need any.
My tutor, Hersha, has always provided good advice and support since the beginning. She is always ready to respond whenever I need her and has been great at motivating me during the course. She makes the studying more enjoyable which has been a struggle for me in the past.
As the course is business related, it does not completely relate to my role. But the knowledge does apply as it helps me understand how Kier works and how important their values are. Because of the course, I made the effort to learn about the company and how it affects people everyday including stakeholders and how they are involved. However the course is very broad and can be applied at any company. It does not specifically help with the department I am in.
Due to covid19 there are not any events going on. When I started the course I attended a residential trip to help us familiarise with the other apprentices. This involved activities such as boat riding, climbing and team exercises.
Yes
Kier has taught me so many skills in a short span of time. I would recommend them as I think they are a great place to start your career.
The application process is quite straight forward. I applied online via a job website and was then called in for an interview. This was a informative meeting where you can ask any questions you have in mind. If you are successful your first day will be easing into the work load and it will pick up from there.
