My role is a Cross Brand Sales Analyst. My daily responsibilities are split between our sales manager and the rest of the sellers within the team. I am responsible for predicting, tracking and analyzing the teams financial performance. For the sellers, I am involved in producing pre-sales profiles for companies and analyzing trends in software spends to produce more efficient prospecting campaigns. I interact with approx 20 people a day internally.
I have attended numerous training course, (which we are all encouraged to do) which has improved my knowledge, professional image and emotional responses to difficult situations. My sales skills, work ethic, technical knowledge, organizational and hierarchical knowledge have sky rocketed. I could not recommend and professional apprenticeship enough, it has provided more meaningful content on my CV and has made me a more confident indivual
The work that I am doing is valuable and has a direct impact on revenue streams for the company. The team which I work in and employees outside my team are all friendly and helpful, there are no barriers and socially outside of work there is always something going on! Our culture is relaxed and suits individuals like me, as long as the work is done you can then choose how you want to develop yourself, flexible hours and down to earth managers makes this company, in my opinion, the very best place for professional apprentices like me.
Please and thank you go a long way, this is certainly true in our team and our company. appreciation is shown by every person I have produced work for, new ideas and challenging the norm are encouraged and rewarded. I feel valued, is an understatement, it is a genuine pleasure to produce work knowing that if it is a high standard people will recognize
Our programme is well organized, however I do believe, like everything there is room for improvement. Our training support and encouragement to better ourselves is beyond brilliant, with regular conversations between my line manager and my professional development manager. My only suggestion would be to have a more open buddy system as in my experience my assigned buddies did not help as much as others.
Training is key to us, IBM realizes this and has more courses available than I can ever complete. When I want to complete a course, or do some self learning, using one of the many support tools, my manager does not question this and even suggests additional courses based on my interests. The training is great, if you are willing to find it and utilize the huge amount of support our company has.
Both of my managers ensure that I am learning all the time, more importantly they make sure that I am happy and that I am enjoying my work. If I cannot speak to my managers about a problem, I have members of the team, my mentor and any manager within our foundation programme. I will never have to keep any issues to myself everyone is willing and wants to help you.
The salary is fair, however, it does not change depending on where you are living, I work in London, this is expensive to travel into and to live. over a quarter of my salary goes on train fair, this in my opinion is not fair when I look at other members of my intake. This is just my personal experience and is the only issue I have with my salary. Saying this, I still have much more money than my friends at Uni!!
I attend on average two events per week, sometimes much more, internally and externally we are encourage to build our knowledge and network of people from day one, as this is what creates synergies between people, teams, areas of the business and other enterprises. I can travel 30 metres to our client center where many activities take place, or I can travel to Portsmouth, If you want to attend a course, volunteer or attend an event you are never told no.
Yes
Socially it is excellent, it is a young and vibrant place where you can accel at your own pace. The experience and knowledge you learn cannot be learned in a classroom and IBM provide you with real responsibilities and roles unlike other companies who offer apprenticeships.
Be real on your CV, be personal and true to you throughout the whole recruitment process. Make sure you know your stuff! Be proactive and look up IBM what we do what our history is and some of the historical milestones we have achieved.
