My role involves working with various different clients on IT related projects to find solutions. An example of day to day tasks is analysing data, conducting meetings and reports.
Yes, I have learnt coding, developer skills via free training provided by my company and I sales force skills. I have developed my teamwork skills, problem solving, networking and other academic skills.
I really enjoy my programme, there are so many opportunities and you really do have support to excel and develop yourself not only as an employee but as a person. Things that you learn or develop you can take with you through life.
The programme is well structured, there are meetings with career counsellors, mentors etc weekly to track progress and raise questions. There are also regular newsletters and updates for those that can’t join calls.
I receive huge support from my employer. I have a career counsellor to go through goals with, a buddy who joined a year ahead of me so can provide advice and answer questions, and talent specialists who direct you to opportunities that appeal to your strengths and develop you as an employee. I have also made friends at work who are supportive and want to see each other succeed. Regular meeting with all these people form a very supportive network.
My training provider recommends and forwards training opportunities to me. They also ask me how my training is going and provide support. My manager is always made aware that I am also studying at university and therefore allow me to not come in on days where I have a study day. Managers will build your work schedule around university requirements so the provider puts education and work on the same level which supports my workload and reduces stress.
My qualification will help me perform better in my role as I will be a trained IT specialist with knowledge of the environment that I am working in. I can apply this theoretical knowledge to actual roles and projects to meet the clients needs in the most efficient way possible. My qualification gives me the ability to have layers of knowledge and understanding relating to a project I am on rather than just a tunnel vision of my task.
At work we have different societies that have socials open to everyone. I particularly enjoy the AACN (African and Caribbean Network) society and LGBT events. This gives people the opportunity to network, meet new people in the company, and share their experiences in and outside of work. We also have sports society’s who hold events and even food tasting, there really is something for everyone to get involved in. I also think the mental health allies training is super important, it offers training to become equipped as an ambassador that people can speak to about mental health.

Through my time here I have seen all these qualities and believe that Accenture is a company that is welcoming and enjoyable for everyone. It is a reputable company that provides many work opportunities, there is opportunity to move, develop and grow within the company, through all different kinds of career paths. I have developed as an employee and completed key training with the company. I have also met people who I am now friends with outside of work through Accenture, so I would be sure to recommend to a friend.
