Managing the Front of House of the BBC Central London Complex. Responsible for 24 staff working a 24/7 operation 365 days a year for the BBC News and Radio Stations. Health & Safety and Security management. Managing HR issues with staff. Absence management, Induction, toolbox talks and PDRs.
So many new skills and knowledge have been learned and also passed on to my peers to help in their development too. Managing Self and Self Awareness was very beneficial to help observe who I am and how I work and also Leading People and Managing People subjects have increased my skills and given my management style a more focused and efficient approach to management and more professional too.
I enjoy the affirmation that I there are areas in my work where I have been managing correctly, at the same time as learning that there are many areas where I need to improve and can develop my new knowledge. Learning from my peers within the team is also enjoyable as it brings the teaching from the tutor to life and we are able to share lessons that we have learned on the job.
There were a few teething problems at the start of the programme as it was a new programme. My tutor troubleshoots any issues that arises.
My employer and line manager gives me 100% support. I am able to work 20% off the job to complete my work.
My tutor gives me tailor made guidance to get the best out of me and focus my work required towards my qualification
We have seen within my office how the learning that I have gained has been implemented not just in my work, but my peer and also my line manager. I feel a more rounded manager now with a more professional and business minded outlook. I used to allow my emotions to get in the way of my actions and I am now able to control them and use my emotional intelligence to benefit my work.

I believe Interserve values Health & Safety and Equality, Diversity and Inclusions as their top priority. This is important to me as it shows a duty of care that I have sitting high up in my own personal values.
There is plenty of room for development and there is a healthy and transparent dialogue between employees and management regarding career aspiration and progression. Definitely a great place to take you first step into Facilities Management.
