My role can involve monitoring highly privileged accounts and systems to searching for the newest vulnerabilities and how it can impact our organisation. Ensuring security programmes are compliant with law and legislation and that the informational assets are correctly protected, monitored and updated to ensure assets are not compromised.
I have both developed and gained many skills such as communication, creativeness, knowledge, confidence and much more. I am able to discuss topics I am not so sure about to colleagues outside of my department if I have a particular task that might need an expertises advice on.
To the extent where I am happy to go to work and learn about the programme. I have a specific day each week I focus more on the apprenticeship side and I am always ready to learn something new.
Well organised with a visual roadmap to show progress and where i am, to logging hours on what I have completed in each module.
A lot of support. All my colleagues understand what I am learning and mostly management help align my objectives with those of the programme to help complete the apprenticeship to best possible standard
My mentor is always on the other end of an email or a call if I ever want to ask something. Month catch ups happen to review my progress and what is needed of me
The knowledge and experience picked up from the programme has allowed me to bring advice into my team and the organisation by informing them on topics they may find useful towards tasks and projects. I also bring another point of view in discussions.
We have volunteering days, social catch ups with fellow apprentices and team. Yearly Christmas parties and summer parties. Raffles occur every so often with departments running competitions on each floor to celebrate events through the year. Many opportunities to attend cyber security events and speak to professionals on this.
