On a day to day basis, I am usually in control of the subcontract side of operations. Leaving; orders, variations and anything subcontract related to me, this also will include payments. However I also often create acquisition values for the relevant project leads within our company. But as said before my main role is too help my mentor with the subcontract side of things. My current job role is Apprentice Quantity Surveyor with hopes that when my apprenticeship is completed I will move up to Assistant Quantity Surveyor.
Yes I have defiantly seen new skills and increases in ones that I had before but weren't my strongest. One of the biggest new skills I've seen is number crunching a lot faster, whether its related to payments and figuring out if were paying the subcontractor the correct amount or creating values for asset data, these are the skills I have seen the biggest increase in. Another good one is how much more confident I am now with making phone calls to subcontractors, where as before I was nervous as I didn't know what they were going to ask and if I had the information to reply to their question. Now I can!
I enjoy all aspects of my programme, the work, the mentor. We all have a very positive relationship with our college tutor. All is good.
Very well
All the necessary support. They are there if you need help with anything the same way college are.
A lot of support, they couldn't be more helpful.
Some aspects of the course aren't relevant to my job role, however a few bits have been!
Yes there was until COVID
Yes
Great company, every single person ive met has greeted you with a smile and a hello, and everyone is very friendly also
Don't stress about the interview, you will be greeted by a very friendly member off staff, usually will be someone within the job role you're applying for. They will just have a formal 'chat' with you. As I said this is what happened to me and others!
