Each day we were welcomed by a friendly Student Recruitment Advisor who ran through our agenda for the day. We had sessions throughout the day, educating us on the company and the line of work our academy was in. We had an icebreaker on the first day, an energiser on the second and a case study to work on and discuss on the third day. There were two guest speakers from EY whom told us about their experience on the job and a couple Q&A sessions with other apprentices. To finish off the day, a member of staff recapped and briefly ran through our agenda for the following day.
I learnt to be myself at all times in the workplace, I also learnt about developing confidence and resilience. We were educated on Goal Setting as well as the diversity in EY. I learnt about the PESTLE analysing system and how that ties in with the audit process. We were also taught about how to prepare for an interview at EY - conveying your main goals and motivation for joining EY and bring your own personality to the room.
I thoroughly enjoyed my work experience at EY, it was different to what I expected it to be like. One thing that stood out is how interactive it was, I actually really enjoyed taking down notes during the sessions and learning so much about EY. In terms of expectations, it exceeded them! You got a real flavour of the atmosphere of EY as a workplace and how everyone is there to support each other. I am very lucky to have had the opportunity to take part in the work experience!
The work experience was incredibly well organised, despite COVID-19 circumstances the sessions were all incredibly interactive as well as incredibly well organised. Everything ran very smoothly and if there were problems, the staff dealt with them admirably. It is not an easy task taking a weeks physical work experience and turning it into an online one but EY have done incredibly well in doing so. All the programmes ran very nicely into each other and instructions were clear as daylight.
As previously mentioned, you got a real flavour of company culture and atmosphere. You can tell it's company well known for its friendliness and ability to make you feel at home. The mere fact they provide a Tutor, a buddy and Counsellor speaks for itself. The system believes in the idea of equality, people in high positions like the managers and people with less relevant jobs are all clearly willing to help and support you. We learnt this from a guest speaker on day three!
The work experience gave me incredibly insight to the company. Before the business academy I wasn't sure if I would want to pursue a career with EY after school but their whole system from the staff to the support system has really got my attention. I'm now strongly considering applying for an apprenticeship afterwards, you could tell from the year two apprentices that it was the place to be. Their diversity and inclusion in the office is to be admired, hiring all different types of people with different cultures and background.
For this experience, we were paid £6.45 an hour which come to a total salary of £115.66. And i have no idea how to fill the rest of the word count as i have no more details to share so im just gonna keep typing until i get to the limit. Really gutted the premier league is finished but looking forward to the champions league starting back up. Nearly there, so close, YAY
Virtually, yes. We met all sorts of employees such as year two apprentices who talked about the business apprenticeship experience and what it was like being in the office at such a young age and how to balance college work and work at your job. We met an assurance partner who talked about her past career and how she got to EY. We also talked to student recruitment advisors. Everyone we spoke to were incredibly friendly and informative.
Yes
Because they give such rare and great opportunities to people who successfully accepted into the programme. They have a great balance between formality and professionalism, there staff are absolutely superb. They treat everyone as completely equals, despite background, cultures or disability. They pay well, they offer you a bright future with lots of different opportunities and pathways. They do incredibly well to educate you. They just seem like a great bunch of people from all across the UK
Just be yourself, they want to see you for who you are. They want you to bring you your personality and perception. It is 100% worth the effort. They reward you for your efforts and offer lots of opportunities for each person. They treat everyone as equal so you will not feel out of place and their support system is one of the best I've ever seen. It's to good an offer to refuse!
