My work experience was virtual due to COVID-19, so it was held on Microsoft Teams. This was held very well and was extremely easy to follow every day. We had many talks from employees from EY and then some case study tasks to complete, which still gave us the work experience factor of the programme when completing work ourselves. Overall a very valuable and interesting experience that provided me alot of information.
I learnt many skills and training from this experience by having lots of different learning talks throughout the experience. Some of these talks included learning email skills, powerpoint skills and then confidence and public speaking skills. All very valuable things that i will take into the work place and use on a regular basis to help me with my future career path.
I enjoyed my experience over the 3 days massively, although it was a shame for it to be held virtually we still had the chance to interact with peers who were also taking place and the chance to ask questions throughout the whole day which made it very engaging at all times. It met all my expectations and helped me gain work based skills from a large company which i value.
The team at EY worked extremely hard to organise the experience to still be valuable even online. Everything was very well organised and any technical problems were sorted out so quickly which was so reassuring for people. Any breakout sessions and different teams links we needed to join were emailed over in plenty of time and we managed to fit so many activites in 3 days with still having plenty of breaks for ourselves.
With alot of informative talks around EY and the background i learnt massive amounts that i didnt know. Also we got to take part in quizzes to consolidate this knowledge which was very fun and answered alot of question around the company and the culture by speaking to current employees who work at the company.
My work experience opened me up to the many options companys have to take your career path down. It hasnt decided what i want to do in the future but it has shown be a new area to the business world which i could end up in the future which is great!
I was paid for the 3 days experience i completed at £6.45 per hour. which was a very good amount for a work experience.
There were always so many opportunites when meeting and speaking to employees we were provided with some emails of people to follow up on and then linkdin profiles which we were encouraged to connect with after the experience.
