Zone manager - overseeing production, process and procedure. Problem solving as issues come up. Looking after the well-being of staff and working with other ZM's to give the best output possible under prevailing circumstances.
I have acquired numerous technical and business based skills. I have mainly developed existing skills and learned how to adapt them to a new work place.
I do enjoy it as it is relevant to what I am doing day to day. I have used many of the ideas explored and some of the concepts have really helped in how I approach different problems.
Very well oganised - university. The work place is a little more haphazard but this is due to the fact they have not had apprentices before and the nature of the business and the size of the site.
Good support from my employer. My shift manager is very accommodating of what I need to do and the time that I need to complete all the tasks set by the university.
The university has been great especially in these very difficult times, adapting the delivery of lectures and they have been available for Teams check ins and are available via email and message boards.
It helps with the foundations of processes and the building blocks of whats required.
No not really.
Yes
They are really trying to build their management base the best way they can, bringing in people outside the company. There should be plenty of opportunity in the future for advancement.
Be prepared for hard work, be adaptable, be prepared, have a thick skin and be open minded to be able to work with people from many different countries, cultures and social backgrounds. Hone problem solving skills and be able to think on your feet. Most of all have a sense of humour, fun and optimism and it will make it all seem so much better!
