I took place in a virtual "insight week" which gave an overview of the construction industry, projects that Mace are and have been involved with, as well as a look at the more specific job roles within the industry. I got to speak to a number of employees, some of which who are on the graduate scheme who told us their journeys of how they got to where they are now as well as their current roles and responsibilities.
I would say my communication skills have improved as this was my first experience of being involved with such a large company. Being able to speak to a vast variety of people has also encouraged me to ask questions and get involved more. In addition, i have gained lots of new knowledge about the industry as well as applied some of what i have learnt to real life examples. Also, since it was virtual i now feel more confident using software or programmes.
I really enjoyed my experience. (the person organising the experience) helped to create a helpful ad friendly atmosphere throughout the group. I felt very comfortable with asking questions and getting involved with tasks with everyone else on the programme. Everyone we spoke to was very professional but also polite and friendly so we were able to have informal, relaxed conversations.
Very well organised. Since it was virtual and the first time anyone had done anything like this, i was very impressed with how well organised and run everything was. we had an agenda throughout the week so that we knew what was going on and when as well as a handbook where we could write notes etc.
Although i felt like i didn't need support, everyone we spoke to was very accommodating and answered any questions or quires we had.
N/A
I feel like it has provided me with more knowledge and allowed me to apply what i have previously known to existing examples.
Yes, there are a wide variety of different networks within Mace which i was very impressed with. They also do a lot of events to involve or help the community and charities.
Yes
Because all encounters i've had with every member of staff have been enjoyable as they have been very helpful, polite and friendly. In addition, there are vast opportunities within the organisation and they seem very well organised.
