Mace's virtual insight week consist of a programme designed for students to get an insight into various career paths within Mace. It was very informative and well structured and the interactive sessions allowed students to actively participate with the programme.
Innovative thinking is an area which I felt I have improved upon since completing the programme. An exercise was conducting where groups were given a preexisting company and they had to formulate a plan on how the given company can complement the construction industry. It was fascinating to see the variety of approaches from different perspectives, indicating to me that there is still a large room for growth within the construction industry.
I enjoyed the experience and would highly recommend it to anyone who is interested in going into construction, design and auditory work. Mace offers a vast range of positions and gave me an insight into a variety of career paths. I have completed the programme with the knowledge on how to pursue my career goals.
The programe was organised very well, an introductory briefing session prior to the programme made it easy to adapt to the execution of the week. Virtual rooms were well conducted and information was easily accessible.
I have learnt a lot regarding the different positions in the company. I have also had an insight into the company culture by speaking to participants of Mace's graduate programme. As they recently completed their academics, there was a lot of similarities between myself and them, therefore, making it easier to obtain the information I needed.
It has solidified my career path as a Construction Manager. This was decided after, they gave me an insight on what their working life was like, the responsibilities they received and their experience as a Construction Manager. All sounded amazing to me, therefore, I choose to go down that career path.
The programme is only a week, which was unpaid as agreed upon.
There were many opportunities to network among other participants of the programme as well as colleagues of the company. The breakout room was excellent for this as it creates a virtual private room to encourage networking.
