  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • working in a addiction center dealing with client admissions and discharges, medication administering, managing a team of support workers and assisting in rota scheduling, promoting and ensuring all training is up to date amongst the team. assisting the manager in tasks and overseeing the day to day clinic duties. carrying out supervisions with other staff members and team meetings every few months or when requested by staff members. following CQC guidelines in all areas and aspects.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • yes, I have developed the existing skills of essay writing and referencing from external resources, I have developed skills of supervision and meeting staff needs as well as clients. I have learnt new skills to be able to ensure all guidelines are followed and how to recognise and report these if needed. I feel more confident in my approach to work now and feel i have better skills to communicate and interact with clients and staff members

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I have enjoyed the programme a lot towards the end, my tutor sophia nichol was brilliant and very supportive, always there to help and offer guidance. I struggled at first with issues with my initial tutor which knocked my confidence and motivated a bit but im glad i persevered through to the end. I feel i have a beneficial qualification to now help enhance my career and open new doors and opportunities or progress in my current role.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • the programme was very well structures, when i completed one assignment and submitted it, my tutor was prompt in giving me the next one. she gave me insight into what assignments were coming up, so that i had enough time to plan ahead and manage my time effectively. i did not feel that i was being kept in the dark and didnt feel like i was struggling with the work load, and this was helped by the structure that was offered.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I recieve a lot of support from my employer on a daily basis. my line manager is very approachable and always has time for the staff and clients, i never feel anxious to approach him for anything whether it be work based or other. I felt able to ask for support from him throughout all of the NVQ and was given all that i was needed to get through, my manager often checked in to see how i was getting on.

  • i felt a lot of support from my training provider, my tutor was very helpful throughout and always responded when needed and offered extra support with assignment, feed back was always beneficial .
