My role as team leader is to make that every day task are achieved in order to meet organisation objectives, this will include clear communication with senior manager to meet up their expectation. I also now manage the site whole site which is under going huge project on the warehouse lay out, managing H&S all round, managing different constriction employees, as well ruining normal day to day operation, picking, wrapping, loading, unloading etc, and reporting back to managements team.
During the Apprentice programmer I have learnt altos of new skills and had fun as well. Learning how to do a presentation and how to communicate with other threw pictures and chart board, learnt how run a project, how to manage a team, communication types, unconscious bias, leadership styles and their roles and most important and to communicate with the teams and set the clear daily goals, and manage tasks threw date reading. I also in this programme lean English and maths.
The programme at the begging was challenging getting into it. The workshops and the the leap team where excellent and fun to work with, they made the workshop funnier and enjoyable and yes I did enjoy going to workshop and learning from that team.
The role and the work that we had to do for the day the where explained very well at the beginning of the workshop. We were some time separated in few groups to do a interactive games as part of the learning which was coordinated by the mentor and they will choose who will be the leader of the group.
The leap mentor where great, the will explain to detail the task and how best to do it and how to communicate with teams and meet expectations, they were problem solving for me. To be honest the manager were not that great as they some time will not have the time I needed to be spent with me. Whoever we were going thru under management structure change and different manager had had different approach which made it bit challenging.
I had all the support I needed for my work to be completed, we had supporting centre where we could go and learn, we had tea and coffee and the mentor all the time was present. I did enjoy it going to support centres as i could learn better there than do it at work place.
Learning an qualification they are great way to performer better at my work, whoever needs to put it to good practise all the learning. Some of learning probably I will never use in my current role but it will be used in future roles. One of the best learning I put into practise is unconscious Bias and different communication styles.
To get to know your the best way is to get out of work place, arranging a party or a night out, social activity like football game or going to race truck. At the begin o the year I did arrange one event for colleagues going to play bawling which was great and everyone enjoy it, I learn this thru Leap program how to arrange the parties and getting to know better the people I work with.
