Training driver and colleagues on compliance, health and safety, mechanical handling equipment and new procedures. I also deal with recruitment, agency workers, inductions, reviewing our safe operating procedures and operational issues. I have various projects within the business from time to time including new vehicle specifications, site changes, creating new training syllabus and procedure changes. I interact with the crews, warehouse staff and management, ensuring that all the training is up to date and relevant.
I have learnt a lot from the course, although not all of it very relevant to my role now I am sure that I will use it in the future. I think the course has given me confidence and an insight as to what I could be capable of in the future. I have developed my interpersonal skills to a good level now. I also have gained a better knowledge of our business as a whole which has given me a broader perspective on my workplace.
I really enjoyed my level 2 course, so much so that I have enrolled on a level 3 management course now!, although I am a slightly older person I find that I am really enjoying learning again. The course was very well organised with lots of interactive workshops and support, it was really good to mix with other colleagues from very different areas of the business and to get their perspective on the business as a whole. Overall I found the experience really positive and enjoyable.
From start to finish my course was very well organised, I had an issue with mentors being changed a few times, but they supported me fully and dealt with any issues I had. I was given all the time I needed to get on with my coursework. The people running the workshops were very good , always willing to go the extra mile to help me if I needed it. The programme itself was well structured and not too heavy to start with so eased me in to learning again gently.
Throughout the entirety of my course my employer and my manager have been great. I have had very good support and have also been given plenty of time to get my work done. The course staff have been very supportive too, if I had any issues or problems I could drop them an email or call and they would deal with it without any fuss. I was made to feel at ease straight away by all the team involved.
I had a few issues with my mentor being changed twice right at the beginning of the course, but once this settled down my mentor was really good. The staff on the workshops were brilliant especially :::Tony::, he was really knowledgeable and seemed like he could not do enough to help. I thoroughly enjoyed my time doing the course and I would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone looking to forward their career or just to gain more knowledge of our business.
It has definitely helped me in my role as driver trainer, as I previously mentioned it was not all relevant to my role, but I can see how it all would be in the future should my role change or I progress into a different role. I would say that I tend to think about my daily interactions more and about the methods I use to do my daily tasks. I have used so much of the information given in my daily role, I think the main reason for this is the fact that I have a much broader understanding of the way our business functions.
With the current climate and the way things are, there is not a lot in the way of social events. However I have been active with our new charity partner arranging some online interactions. We have regular web meetings and face time interactions instead of company events at the moment, but I am confident once we get back to some kind of normal I will be ready to get involved in the social side of work.
Yes
They have been so supportive of my progression from my colleagues, management and trainers, I have had nothing but support. They have made me feel welcome from day one, and have gone out of their way to ensure I have the support and time to reach my goals. I think without the support of everyone I would not have been able to achieve the result I did, so I would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone.
Go for it!, It may seem a little bit daunting at first but stick with it as it is very worthwhile. It took me a little while to get my head in to learning again but once I did I really enjoyed the course. You will learn a lot from the whole programme from start to finish. The initial look at the system used for recording your progress looks a bit complicated, but once you start using it, it is actually quite straight forward.
