  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • Main role in depot is sales. Dealing with customer face to face, phone calls and emails, raising quotes and chasing them. converting them to sales and ordering stock. Dealing with invoice issues or POD. Dealing with transport for the depot, organinsing loads and making sure trucks and drivers are compliant with the law.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learned to look at the bigger picture and stay calm in a bad situation. Not jumping in with two feet and taken a step back. Improved my communication skills with the team.Being able to chair meetings, which i would of struggled before.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoyed meeting up with other people and start to learn that everyone is different and work in different ways. It opened up my eyes to assist me in reaching my next role.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • it was orgainsed well. Struggled at times trying to implement new things into the depot for some of the tasks due to depot having just relocated to a new depot. I had to think out the box to make sure I managed to hand in course work.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • Manager was always there to assist me if i was struggling to do course work and give me time to do it. Mentor wasn't in contact often compared to what other people on the group had from there mentor.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • Mentor came up towards the end to assist in making sure all criteria was covered for the portfolio.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • The qualification has assist me to grow within the depot and in the overall company. People outside the depot have taken an interest in how I am doing. I have to look after a team of 4 daily regarding yard and transport.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • We do have team building get together outside work and a few of us a close friends outside work and do meet up to do other actives outside the team.

  • Yes

  • Going on my experience. Great company to work for to with the right mind set they will take an interest in you and put the effort and money into training you.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Travis Perkins Plc?
  • Be honest. We work like a family so we like people to come in and dont lie or do something to upset the teams.
