I am an Accounts Payable Manager that involves managing a team of 14 responsible for supplier management - being the first point of contact for all suppliers to contact us about payments. The team is high transaction with phones & emails and I have to manage this.
I had my promotion while undertaking my apprenticeship but before that I had held team leader & supervisor positions not only with my current company but with previous ones too. My apprenticeship not only developed skills I had grown during my career but taught me lots of new skills as well.
I really enjoyed the programme, not only did I learn lots completing the work but the time spent in the workshops with other people that I would not normally have the opportunity to meet & talk to gave me more exposure on how our company works as a whole.
I felt it was well organised, it was still relatively new & so some processes changed as we were doing it however my mentor & the trainers in the workshop were really supportive & helps us through the changes.
I had great support during my apprenticeship, I was given time to complete the tasks & opportunities to ensure that I had exposure to give me the best position to complete all modules.
There were some great training tools along the way & I actually still use some of these tools to refer back to when putting things in place when managing my team.
I feel the apprenticeship has just given me some really strong foundations to helo me to become a great manager. Not just skills but also made me so much more self aware to assist me with decisions & behaviours.
Not currently no but I believe this is something that is being looked at more.
