Running the store from daily routines and leading a team to sorting out any problems.
I have learnt a lot about ways to handle conflict and resolve difficult situations. Alongside this the apprenticeship allowed me to take a new view point on the way I lead others and the impact that our actions and emotions can have on others.
I really enjoy learning new things and the apprenticeship has allowed me to broaden my knowledge in many different areas. Now I can go on and futher define my knowledge in more detail.
Very well orgaised and structured with the necessary amount of support from mentors in which they also will go beyond the expectations to help you when they can.
Throughout the course I transferred back and forth between two stores and had three different store managers due to the covid 19 situation however they all supported me with my learning and allowed me to use what I had learnt whenever possible. Often my name was put forward to complete certain tasks as they were aware that I wanted to practice more.
They have been truly amazing and have gone above and beyond to support me. They held regular catch ups which allowed me to ensure that my understanding of the tasks set were correct and help me further my development.
Due to leaving my original store as a key holder and returning as an operations manager the teachings of the course have allowed me to successfully integrate back into the team but also have a successful transition into the ops role in which the members of staff understand that I am now at a higher level to help them.
There are often courses that you can go on which allow you to network with other teams but also we have fundraising events in which we discuss with other stores. From time to time we do arrange friendly games with other stores in the local area.
Yes
The stores that I have worked in have all had the same atmosphere where the team feels like family and everyone supports each other which is honestly an absolute pleasure to be a part of. As with every business there will be challenging times but we have always received support from the company and as a team worked our way through it coming out the other side even better than before.
Be open and honest about who you are and dont let the opinions of others hold you back. Continually working on yourself and pushing yourself to achieve will help you to progress within the business as well as becoming a part of a great team in your area.
