I am a Artwork & design apprentice in GlaxoSmithKline and my job role is to design and produce consumer health artwork. Each half a year of my apprenticeship i focus on a different role that takes place here in the office. My job is very challenging and I'm faced with new and exiting opportunities every day.
I have learnt many new skills that will stay with me for life. In my apprenticeship I'm put through new college courses night classes and trips to other sites in England where i work with other GSK apprentices in team building activities.
I enjoy the working life and being in a routine. I like the fact I'm working around maturer people who are focused and want to get the job done. Also i enjoy how much people here in my office look after me and make sure I'm getting as many qualifications help and advice as possible. I always have a friendly face to talk to.
I feel very valued. Theres a lot of work gone into making my apprenticeship scheme excellent. I'm overwhelmed with opportunities and the chance to gain new skills and earn and learn!
Very well. We get a plan when we first join and so far we have stuck to the plan. Everyone knows what the need to do weather its a trainer teaching us the job or us ourselves. Also if we are ever stuck or don't feel comfortable we know exactly where to go.
Our training providers are exceptional. There not only a work college but a friend. I feel confident going to them knowing they'll help us and understand how we feel.
Our manager is brilliant. We have plenty of meetings and catch ups so that he/she knows exactly how we feel and if were slipping off track there quick to help us back on it and get us focused again.
I'm very comfortable with my pay and lucky to be on such a good wage at the age on 19.
Yes. College courses, trips to London, meeting other apprentices, teambuilding activities, Brathay challenge, Chances to help a charity.
Yes
they are a well organized company with brilliant helpful staff. Ive never felt more comfortable and happy in a job role. I know exactly what I'm doing and where I'm heading.
The application process is hard, but worth it. Hang in there because the jobs and opportunities in GSK are tremendous and worth all the hard work. Also don't be afraid to ring up and ask to visit the place your applying for. It all goes towards your application and shows your keen and interested in a job there.
