I have been involved in product testing in a microbiology lab and now am involved in media preparation for other labs in the department. I have used new technology such as isolators and autoclaves during the apprenticeship so far. My job title is a Microbiological Technologist. I am also involved in the apprentice network and other extra apprentice activitites such as the brathay challenge.
Progressing through Applied bioscience technology foundation degree. I have learnt to be more professional in the last year especially. I am currently working towards increasing my team working skills as i find this one of my weaknesses.
I enjoy my programme when I am around people who understand my needs as an apprentice but find it hard sometimes when people expect too much of me and dont understand the apprenticeship programme. I enjoy doing the extra activities such as going to events and schools as part of development.
somewhat valued but not supported all of the time.
This section of the comment has been removed by a member of the RateMyApprenticehsip Team because it did not meet our site terms and conditions Induction is fine but not informative about the scheme. Training is ok for the job but more consideration is needed for those of us coming from school/sixth form and not uni. support is sporadic. I get my study time. Mentor system has dissolved since i started as my mentor is now a manager. In the heirarchy i used to be seen as an equal but in a new area I am now seen as the bottom along with the IPs Not well organised but there are improvements i think on the way....
A lot of support from own lecturer. Other markers and lecturers dont care. Its just something I have to do.
It varies ... See above answers
A recent pay increase has helped but I do think more pay wouldnt hurt to bring me in line with others doing the same/Less work.
Currently taking part in brathay challenge.
Yes
Yes and no.... Yes because its a good company to work for with good benefits. No because the setup needs work.
Make sure you are independent and like to put yourself out there because although people help at the start they have their own jobs to do. ASK Questions !
