My role at PwC was a trainee auditor for my first few weeks i was being trained in the basics of audit and how to use the systems that PwC use. Once i started client work at PwC i was assisting on lots of different clients helping to complete both half year and full year audits along with helping with planning. I worked on lots of different types of clients including charities and manufacturing companies.
I have learnt so many new skills on placement as being thrown in at the deep end with work ensures that you use your skills and you have to use them. The skill i would say i learnt the most was the use of Excel, excel was key to daily life at PwC and new skills where picked up very quickly and i improved huge amounts over placement. A skill that i developed would be teamwork and communication as you have to adapt to using technology for this.
I enjoyed placement a lot at first getting used to working was hard but as soon as i got into a routine i started to really enjoy working and learning. I feel like i was interested in the area of work i was performing and this made placement very enjoyable for me. I enjoyed meeting new people and forming relationships with colleagues i had a good opportunity to build these relationships as i was on lots of different jobs with lots of people.
Placement is very well structured i feel. You start placement with a training course which is vital to being able to go into PwC and to be able to perform the work because you are expected to know the basics when you arrive. There is also lots of support given to you in the form of a career coach and buddies that are given to you. It makes you feel comfortable and welcome at PwC
You receive lots of support from PwC. Before we started proper work we had training with 3 seniors who told us that we can go to them if we ever needed any help or assistance which was very reassuring when joining. There is also lots of support given to you in the form of a career coach who i had weekly updates with to make sure everything was okay and buddies that are given to you. It makes you feel comfortable and welcome at PwC
The ICAEW is our training provider and over placement i feel like we didn't need them as much however they are useful when completing exams as they provide the necessary text books and information to complete our exams which is very helpful however i haven't used the ICAEW that much yet but they do have a lot of information i require and i can see myself using that information in the future.
The qualification that you receive through the ICAEW is an ACA qualification this directly relates to the role i performed on placement as the knowledge that i learn on the professional qualification course can be transferred into my role at PwC this means that the work we do on the course has meaning and i am interested in the work so i pick it up and apply it on placement.

PwC has been a very interesting and enjoyable place to work and i would highly recommend to a friend the experience that you recieve and the skills you learn and develop are so valuable to the rest of your life. Working at PwC you meet lots of people who help and guide you through the process and build relationships with lots of people. I really enjoyed my placement and would highly recommend to a friend.
When applying to PwC people think that it is mainly academic but when applying i soon realised that it is not. You need to be aware that they look at you because of you as a person and your values PwC's core principles are crucial and you need to open and confident when applying and working at PwC
