  • As a Flying Start intern in Audit, you are an integral part of the engagement team working to deliver a high quality audit to your client. Responsibilities may include completing tests of detail, research, reviewing financial information etc. You get to work alongside PwC staff from other fellow interns up to partners. There are also opportunities to travel to client site for meetings/inventory etc.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have taken further steps to achieving my ACA qualification. e.g. sat modules in Assurance, Law, Audit + Assurance, Accounting. By the end of the degree programme, I would have sat 12 out of the 15 required exams to become an ICAEW chartered accountant. On placement, I have picked up skills centered around delivering a PwC audit. For example, client research, the procedures behind testing FSLIs.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • Each Flying Start intern is assigned a Career Coach (a PwC member typically a Senior Associate), this is your first port of call for any work/pastoral issues. Additionally PwC has families within Audit; these are smaller groups made up of partners, managers, associates, other interns etc. Meetings within families offer an opportunity to raise any issues to a wider forum yet still feel comfortable. We are also encouraged to keep in regular contact with our tutors at university.
